“Brave Bessie” Coleman, daughter of sharecroppers, thrilled two continents with her mastery of daredevil skills. Being poor, single, black and female, the Texas flight school did not admitted her. So she took a boat to France and became a daredevil pilot there! She was the first African-American who obtained a pilot’s license.
Amelia Earhart braved the skies, becoming America’s sweetheart, only to be lost in a shroud of mystery.
